STEP 11 – SOOTHE YOUR SKIN

We often focus on the respiratory system when we talk about the effects of seasonal threats on the body, but the discomfort they cause to the skin should not be overlooked. Sometimes, the changing seasons can cause your skin to feel itchy and irritated. LAVENDER and MELALEUCA Essential Oils both soothe skin that feels dry, puffy, and irritated due to seasonal threats. They also cleanse and soothe cuts, scrapes, and bug bites.

If your skin feels itchy and irritated, you can try adding LAVENDER Essential Oil and Epsom salt to a relaxing bath.

SOOTHING LAVENDER BATH SALT

• 1 cup Epsom salt or pink Himalayan salt

• 1 tbsp. Fractionated Coconut Oil

• 5 drops LAVENDER Essential Oil

Mix LAVENDER Essential Oil and Fractionated Coconut Oil. Combine with salts and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle in warm bath and stir. Soak and relax for at least 20 to 30 minutes.

If you have particular areas of your skin that give you issues when seasonal threats are high, try spot treating with this roller bottle blend:

SKIN SOOTHING ROLLER BOTTLE BLEND

• 5 drops LAVENDER Essential Oil

• 5 drops MELALEUCA Essential Oil

Place Essential Oils in a 10 ml roller bottle. Top with Fractionated Coconut Oil or carrier oil of your choice. Roll-on for soothing comfort!

If you’d like to add oils other than the ones found in the Seasonal Threat Kit, the following Essential Oils are skin soothing and nourishing:

 
• Roman Chamomile

• Frankincense

• Myrrh

• Helichrysum

• Geranium

• Patchouli

• Sandalwood

• Rose

Adding any of those Essential Oils to the roller bottle blend will give it extra soothing power. Be sure to stick to 10 – 12 drops total of Essential Oil per blend, no matter what combination you try.

Seasonal shifts often mean an increased amount of time spent outdoors. If you’ve ever had the experience of staying out in the sun too long, you’ll be glad to know that LAVENDER and MELALEUCA Essential Oil scan also provide soothing relief for your skin.

AFTER SUN SPRAY

This After Sun Spray is cooling, soothing, and cleansing.

• 10 drops LAVENDER Essential Oil (to soothe)

• 10 drops MELALEUCA Essential Oil (to cleanse)

• 5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (optional—to cool)

Combine Essential Oils in a glass spray bottle. Fill 1/4 of the way with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Fill to top with water. Shake (each time you use) and spray.

TIP: An option for extra relief is to use Aloe Vera Gel in this spray instead of water. This is even better for irritated skin.
